§ 509. APPOINTMENT OF COMMISSION MEMBERS.

At the expiration of the term of each member of the Commissions established by this Charter, the Mayor shall appoint a successor, subject to confirmation by an affirmative vote of a majority of the councilmembers in office at that time. Should a vacancy occur for any reason other than by expiration of a term, the Mayor, subject to confirmation by an affirmative vote of a majority of the councilmembers in office at that time, shall appoint a successor to fill such vacancy for the unexpired term. The Mayor in making appointments to each such Commission shall stagger the terms of the Commission members so as to provide a continuity of experienced members on each Commission. Membership on the Recreation Commission and the filling of vacancies thereon shall be as set forth in Article IX hereof.
